The AL6300 Data Link Test Set is used by communication and telemetry engineers to test communication links and system components such as bit synchronizers, modems and digital multiplexers. Besides the standard PRN data patterns, it also offers the user the ability to test complete systems from the receiver output or the data source to the digital processor in a ground station using simulated PCM data. With Bit rates up to 35 Mbps, the Data Link Test Set can generate data patterns up to 8 Megabits in length and output the serial data in NRZ, Bi-phase or R-NRZ codes for testing most data links. External inputs are provided to inject noise into the output data, simulate link jitter and vary the baseline to more nearly replicate real world data sources.
The AL6300 has a built in receiver that automatically synchronizes to the incoming PRN or PCM stream and then detects and displays bit errors occurring in the system or component under test.A unique feature of the unit is the ability to customize the measurement display page with the fields of greatest interest and change the selection in realtime during tests.
Front panel setup of all the Data Link Test Set parameters is provided. In addition, an RS-232 serial interface is provided for remote programming and reading the test results. As the AL6300 Data Link Test Set may be used in automated test systems, an IEEE-488 (GPIB) interface option is also available for these applications.
